NUMERICAL STUDY OF WATER ADDITION ON THE COMBUSTION CHARACTERISTICS IN AN HCCI ETHANOL ENGINE

Low-temperature combustion modes have attracted global attention in recent years, especially the homogeneous charge compression ignition (HCCI) mode. The HCCI produces high-speed combustion, achieving relatively high thermal efficiencies while emitting low NOX and soot. However, due to lack of direct control start one main challenges this type engine is ensure that auto-ignition occurs close top dead center for a wide operation range. There are few phase techniques solve limitation, them water injection. In regard, paper explores influence concentration an ethanol as form phasing control. work was conducted numerically using zero-dimensional single-zone model with chemical kinetic mechanism containing 56 species 383 reactions. numerical results were well agreed reported experimental data. fraction ranged from 0 18% by mass at 3% intervals. demonstrate injection efficient strategy adjusting reactivity. increase reduced in-cylinder pressure heat release rates. Furthermore, advanced, duration extended, efficiency about 44.3% concentration.
